Archives 1962-1963
17th year of the school’s existence
The 1962-63 school year was a mixed one for sports. When the Eagle football team won the Class B championship in 1961, they were “promoted” to the Class A conference and lost all four conference games. The basketball team did better, finishing second in the Class A tournament. The Eagle track team won its regional meet, and the soccer team was Southern Division champs.
In other interesting events, John Moody was a talent show winner, with Dianne Wiest coming in second. Pat Armstrong was a grand prize winner in the junior high division and Gerald Armstrong won grand prize in the high school division of the Science Fair. At an all-school assembly an ancestor of Baron Johann de Kalb, a hero of the American Revolution, gave a speech in his honor. A special event for the Trichter staff was the winning of a First Place rating in the Columbia Press Association Contest for a second year in a row.
